More Music, More Pretentiousness...
I see ol' Pammycakes threw up some Edith Piaf on her web site. I called that a week ago, what with her swooning over Cole Porter and whatnot. It's only a short step from Cole Porter to Edith Piaf. But I'm not one to withhold credit when credit is due: You've got to be an authentic phoney to listen to Edith Piaf and then act like it was a treat. I mean, it isn't just that she's French - although that should be enough for most people - it's, it's that she sounds like someone is goosing her at a rate of about 30 times a minute. Every time I hear her, I end up having this visual of her sitting on a vibrating egg or something.
Yuck.
Anyway, you're not going to get any of that sort of stupid shit here. Today's Dennis The Peasant's Very Prententious Music Videos To Make You Think I'm Some Sort Of Big Fucking Deal are...
Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros with a wonderful live version of "Johnny Appleseed":
And, as an extra special - and very pretentious - bonus, here's Public Image Ltd.'s "Rise":
That statement, along with the visual of a PammyCake may possibly give me nightmares/impotency for the rest of my life - my lawyers will be contacting you soon.

DtP, are you the sort of person who will participate if asked? Or are you one of those guys who thinks they are *above* such shenanigans?
You're it.
So, I guess we'll find out.

FYI "Johnny Appleseed" is the theme song for "John From Cincinnati" on HBO.
Reason enough for me to keep watching it!

Alright, alright. I confess to linking to a Piaf video at another blog last week when someone posted certain "rose" lyrics. I even said I'd see the latest movie about her.
But I prefer your music selections and will do penance by spiking me hair for the week. Won't go red but that guy is fabulously spastic.

DENNIS!
I've solved your music problem!
WalMart has a guitar/amp setup for less than $200. It's made in China, so you know there's no natural ingredients for your bitterness to damage, and even if you HAVE reached the point where your splenetic bile can dissolve plastics, hey, it's less the $200 bucks. You can roll a Somali immigrant cab driver for more than that...

I miss Strummer. One notable bummer of my life is the oft-rumored Clash reunion that never happened.
