Here's what this honkey noted at today's Cambridge news conference:
Given Commissioner Haas' relaxed demeanor and his repeated request that reporters listen to the tapes and "form their own opinion" of what happened, I have the feeling Prof. Gates may end up with his day spoiled. Commissioner Haas did not act like a man who knew one of his men had fucked up.
But then again, he's white.
Boy you sure loves you some racial controversy don't you? What are you again, a Nixon Republican or a Reagan Republican? I forget. Not that it makes much difference.

Not all of us can be as post-racial as Barack Obama.
Forgive me.

Last year I was in Lafeyette IN on the Saturday before their primary. I'd been out canvassing all day for Obama and came back to the storefront HQ to turn in my walksheets. A brother in a cowboy hat about my age was ruefully talking about Barack's gutterball bowling prowess. I said he ought to stick to basketball and he shot me a dirty look.
I just laughed and said, "C'mon, the guy's got a gun! They used to call him Barry Obomber in high school for his three point shot. He helped lead his school to the Hawaiian state championship two years in a row." He just smiled at his own assumption, shook his head as if to say, "I still think I'm dreaming all this, but I like this dream, don't wake me up" and waved as he walked out the door.
I've since learned that was just campaign lore. They had a number of guys who went on to play division one ball on those teams and Barack wasn't a starter.

Dennis! You FOOL! Don't you realize Dick CHENEY has had all the time he needs to have those tapes ALTERED by the crack GOP digital action team?
Posted by: richard mcenroe | July 27, 2009 at 03:28 PM
Dennis,
It was good of Obama to take time off from running two wars, economic collapse, distributing stimulus money to his supporters, spiralling unemployment, the biggest economic collapse evah and spending plans which make even Goldman Sachs go into convulsions,to help out a buddy.
The man has style.

If it had been any average asshole like Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson who called the Cambridge police stupid it would have been long gone by now. But this is the POTUS, leader of the free world and he has pretty much made a complete ass clown of himself. So this is not going to disappear any time soon. It going to hang on like a bugger on a screen door.
At least we now know what happens when he goes "off teleprompter". Can you say train wreck?
Posted by: DonnieDarko | July 27, 2009 at 04:21 PM
Shorter Donnie: "If he gives the speech we must impeach!"
Anybody got a word that rhymes with stupid?
Posted by: markg8 | July 27, 2009 at 05:36 PM
Gentlemen, please, a bit of perspective. In Mark's neck of the woods, the Zero is a slightly right-of-center moderate.
And I want to be the Commissar of Nationalities in his cabinet...
Posted by: Uncle Fester | July 27, 2009 at 07:29 PM
Fuck no Fester he's a proud liberal. Got a problem with that? Too bad.
Posted by: markg8 | July 27, 2009 at 09:09 PM
I rest my case.
Posted by: Uncle Fester | July 27, 2009 at 09:39 PM
That's your case? Remind me never to hire you as a lawyer.
Posted by: markg8 | July 27, 2009 at 09:42 PM
A bit defensive are we?
That's because y'all are a bunch of fascist wannabe's who should have all been in the cellars of the Lubyanka by now.
Amateurs.
Useful idiots indeed.
But you're doing your part.
Posted by: Uncle Fester | July 27, 2009 at 11:33 PM
Marky
That stuff about the basketball was truly vomitous - is Baracky your hero ?
In no civilised country does the boss get involved in minor criminal cases. You now live in a banana republic.
Posted by: Simon | July 28, 2009 at 12:16 AM
Sleep well, Mr. President. mark's got your back.
Posted by: TmjUtah | July 28, 2009 at 12:40 AM
Fester try to catch up. It's not 1963 anymore. Speaking of defensive you should've heard my idiot congresswoman on the phone tonight. On her teletown conference call she was telling us she and her ilk can't get any input on legislation and whined about the healthcare bill being 1000 pages long. She admitted the House was in session working on the bill tonight, while she was on the phone with us, but thought it important to let us know she thinks she needs more time. Just before she knocks off for a month long vacation. One of the callers had to tell her where to find the bill at Thomas.gov and even had to give her the bill number. Wasn't her best night.
Simon be my guest, go throw up, anytime I can make you puke it's been a good day. The new car showrooms are packed and new home sales shot up 11% in June, the third month in a row they've risen. Surprisingly existing housing stock is selling well too. We're not out of the woods but there seems to be a few flowers blooming.
Simon I guess your idea of a civilized nation is one where the president orders people be tortured. Have a banana once you're done spewing.
Posted by: markg8 | July 28, 2009 at 01:18 AM
Gee you're a champ Marky. Lead with your chin much ?
On a thread where you are trying to defend your hero Barack 'hoop king' Obama and the Democrats against all comers - out of nowhere you raise one of the most indefensible points of his illustrious reign - the fact that the Democrats are coming up with phone book legislation which noone has read or understood. And of course Barry will sign any piece of shit which is presented to him, look right into the camera and say "Mission accomplished"

"The new car showrooms are packed and new home sales shot up 11% in June, the third month in a row they've risen. Surprisingly existing housing stock is selling well too."
I would expect showrooms to be packed at Chrysler and GM. With yanked franchises and lagging sales they have to go somewhere.
Read this for housing:

Mark- Hell no I do not want to impeach. This guy may be the best hope for the Republicans since, well, forever. He has all the makings of a Jimmy Carter on political steroids. With a little luck he will end up taking the entire party down with him.
Beside, then we would have Joe Biden. Too scary to think of.

On a thread where you are trying to defend your hero Barack 'hoop king' Obama and the Democrats against all comers
I have no illusions about the politics of the people here Simon. Do you? You're hardly a bunch of objective observers.
phone book legislation which noone has read or understood.
People who don't read legislation though they've had plenty of time, and can't understand legislative language have no business being in a legislature, any legislature, let alone ours. My illustrious congresswoman can't even remember the number of the bill. There's no excuse for that. And please don't give me any of that nonsense about Obama not knowing what's in the bill because he couldn't answer a question about an idiotic Republican attack. I'm sure he doesn't know much about his secret birth in Kenya and his ties to the communist party either.
cfFox showrooms are packed because of the Cars for Clunkers program, which admittedly isn't as generous as the German program it's modeled after, but nonetheless seems to be having a stimulating effect. If you have a old car meeting the right criteria you can trade it for $4,500 off a new car made by anyone, not just GM or Chrysler, and Chrysler will match it with another $4,500 discount. $9,000 off a new Jeep when you trade a beater worth maybe $1,000? That's a damn good deal.
New and existing home sales are up partly for the same reason, in this case a $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers.
These programs don't cost all that much, but they can have a great ripple effect through out the economy.
Posted by: markg8 | July 28, 2009 at 11:48 AM
Well you can always hope Donnie. Who do you like for the Republican ticket in 2012? Saw Bill Kristol on Stewart last night extolling a Palin/Liz Cheney combo.
Posted by: markg8 | July 28, 2009 at 11:54 AM
"It's not 1963 anymore."
You're right, it isn't, it's 2009 and we were well on our way until you reactionary fascists showed up. You just couldn't be patient, could you?
Reagan got us started, Bush I got the Right and Center pacified and Clinton moved it along while using the economy as a decoy, Bush II made great progress and then you traitors had to push it with the Zero, Pelosi and Reed with their massive "liberal" overreach.
Now the middle-class and workers are stirred up and we'll get set back a generation.
Thanks a lot, as far as I'm concerned you should all be shoveling tar sand in Montana, it's the only constructive thing any of you could contribute to the State.
Posted by: Uncle Fester | July 28, 2009 at 12:08 PM
Fester what alternative universe do you live in? Send that comment to our fascist overlords and maybe they'll send all us lefties to Montana. BTW who do you like for the Republican ticket in 2012 in your world?

Didn't you say Obama hadn't had time to read it either?
Posted by: PeterUK. | July 28, 2009 at 02:41 PM
Petey try to think before you post, I know it's hard for you but it'll save us all a lot of time.
Posted by: markg8 | July 28, 2009 at 03:20 PM
McCain.
Or someone like him. Put the rubes back to sleep.
You fools have stirred the pot and set us back years with your stupid "Liberal" and "Progressive" overreach.
Hell, y'all couldn't even get gun control passed by increment, no, you have to try and grab whole fistfuls at once and get the proles riled up and wary.
Useful Idiots. With the emphasis on "idiots."
Posted by: Uncle Fester | July 28, 2009 at 03:57 PM
Bizarro McCain must be a much more interesting character on your planet than ours is.
I'm not familiar with any gun nabbing bill proposed in congress this year. Dems did filibuster Thune's nat'l concealed carry amendment to the Defense bill that would have allowed gang members from NYC to get drivers licenses in NH and bring back car trunks full of Uzis. Not a goddam thing a NYC cop could do about it either if they just showed a NH drivers license.
Here's an idea for ya I came up with a while ago. If you own a long gun you should be forced to get a deer license and bag at least one deer every season. If you don't you're not a good enough shot to own a gun and ought to forfeit your gun license and gun. Because their natural predators are about gone, deer are overrunning the country. They caused more than 100,000 car accidents in one year in PA alone a few years ago. I'd throw in Canada geese too. Around here those damn things never go anywhere for the winter and they crap all over our parks and golf courses. I'd pay to have them rounded up and shipped off to some farmer's field for you Pilgrims to take potshots at.
There'd be a lot of venison and Xmas geese donated to local food pantries. Big brave gun owners would be making a useful contribution to society. Everybody'd be happy right?
Whaddya think?
Posted by: markg8 | July 28, 2009 at 04:57 PM
Marky
The congress isn't being given time to digest these bills. The Democrats are simply pissing themselves in fear that they must do something, anything, NOW. And Barry knows that clowns like you are cheering for each huge bill passed like its a home run, or in your case a motherf....in downtown bombing basket thrown by a righteous soul brother (not quite sure on the slang here).
According to this article a 300 page amendment was made to the cap and trade bill at 3 am on the day it was to be passed.
And if you read the article (that is if you get past the part where Bushitler DID THE SAME THING) you'll see a blast from the past - that shadowy neo-Cheneyite group "Let Freedom Ring" you warned me about has raised its ugly head again pressing congresspersons to pledge to read every bill put to them - fascist bullyboys.
Posted by: Simon | July 28, 2009 at 07:30 PM
Sheesh Marky, you are sharp, any sharper and you will bruise yourself. You always were a dumb bunny, not improved with age.

Another stupid idea Marky. Why not go and give them a speech? Bore them to death.

Saving money by spending it....
Wow. The only thing that could make you look more like a complete idiot would be if I were a top-notch mechanic with industry knowledge... damn the bad luck.
Yes, when people are in need the most, now is the time to take out a loan and buy a new car. More car payments, higher insurance, sales tax, and DMV fees be damned.
Now is the time to drain the trade-in pool. Because cheap cars that usually beat new cars in total opperation costs have got to go.
Let's interfere with that low-browed car service industry that's been struggling since before the housing market crash. We've got UAW's intrests' to protect.
Now is the time to for government to spend money like there's no tomorrow. All of them hoping to jump-start an economy when there's no such thing as an "Easy Button."
Yep, that's a damn good deal. Excuse me while I go make my neighbor's clunker (tax) payment. With the excption of Ford, we're continuing to prop-up failing car make's to delay their inevitable collapse.
I don't care how cute you think you look with a pleated skirt and pom-poms. When you don't know what you're talking about it's best to say nothing at all, Mark.

"If you own a long gun you should be forced to get a deer license and bag at least one deer every season."
What could possibly go wrong?
"get drivers licenses in NH and bring back car trunks full of Uzis"
So illicit drug sales are doing well... Nice to see you doing your part at helping the "economy." Here's what fully-automatic leagl-to-own Uzis are going for. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchResults.asp
Too bad they won't be able to buy them and I believe no state will allows Class III to be concealed. Even then the illegal ones are cheaper, easier to get, and just as much of a problem if you're caught. But, hey, since when has spewing tripe ever been a problem for you?
Posted by: fcFox | July 29, 2009 at 08:39 PM
Ah, crap. Damn you gunbroker and your non-linking ways.
Just search for Uzis on the site.
