Well, it seems all is not as it should be in Cash for Clunkers land. Yesterday half of New York's auto dealers shitcanned the program because the super geniuses at the Dept. of Transportation couldn't get payments processed. Today, dealers in New Mexico are starting to run away:
Some New Mexico auto dealers have backed out of the cash-for-clunkers program and more may do so as the federal government takes its time providing cash reimbursements.
Dealers across the state are owed more than $3.6 million, according to a dealers' group which says that so far Uncle Sam has only written three checks totaling about $14,000.
.....
Dealerships put up the cash for the rebates after being told by the Obama administration they would be paid back within 10 days of the sale.
You know, if Transportation had a single, solitary drone who could count without the aid of fingers and toes, that single, solitary drone could have come up with an accurate estimate of the number of rebates the program would generate, the amount of time it would take to process an average rebate, and how many other drones it would take to process the lot of them in less that five years. Evidently that sort of planning was beyond their capabilities.
Morons.
Like I said yesterday; the Obama Administration can't run a simple reimbursement program without completely fucking it up. Now it wants to run health care, er, insurance, er whatever.
Why worry?
California dealers are pulling out, too.
Remember, we had to pass this legislation in a hurry so we could...er... give out the assistance really slowly... er sumthin...
