Well, it's Monday, it's tax season and it's 18 degrees outside. Global warming wouldn't be so much of a pain in the ass if it wasn't so damn cold. Seriously. This keeps up and I'm going to have to buy an electric blanket for my very gay powder blue Prius.
Anyway, what I want explained is why the Republicans are having problems with Harry Reid's "negro dialect" comment. All Harry was doing is expressing the primary concern we all have about negroes: Namely, are they white enough to be the sort of black people we white folks can be comfortable around.
Admit it, you've been there. We all have. You wake up day and get the news that there's a negro family moving in on your street. The first thing that goes through your head isn't, "That's great! Finally some real diversity!" No, the first thing that goes through your head is, "Are we getting the Huxtables or the Wu-Tang Clan?"
Right?
That, in reality, was all Harry was doing: Making sure Barack Obama understood he was going to have to act like Cliff Huxtable rather than Masta Killa to have a chance at being elected. What Harry did was what any polite white person would do in his position. Not only was it the white thing to do, quite frankly it was the Republican thing to do. So I don't really understand what Mike Steele is carrying on about... Especially because you know somebody at the RNC made the same comment about him not so very long ago.
Mike Steele sure as shit didn't get his job because he was black, that's for damn sure. Neither did Barack Obama. Both got their jobs because they weren't black enough to be really black, but were black enough to make white folks feel they were doing something special by letting the two of 'em sit at the front of the bus.
Steele probably needs to cut Harry some slack, and if he was really black (or really white) he'd understand why.
What's black and white and reid all over?

Exactly.

1. Second paragraph is exactly correct.
2. The rest of the commentary is pretty much on the mark, too.
3. From the standpoint of a card carrying member of the white middle class: black people are pretty much a pain in the ass.
4. But then again, so are women.
5. The first time I was in a firefight, my life was saved (and those of two other newbies) by a competent and heroic black sergeant.
6. Women have never done anything to cause me to be a hypocrite.
7. Yet.

Michael Steele got his job because what was left of the Republican party was stalemated and time was running out. They had to vacate the hotel ballroom they rented because a wedding was scheduled for later that day. I shit you not. So they gave the second worst job in the country to a black man. The American people already gave the worst one to Obama.
