You have to believe that somewhere Joe Biden is - at this very moment - mumbling to himself, "When is this guy going to stop with the stupid?"
It's something we're all starting to wonder:
"I'd rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president," he told ABC's "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer in an exclusive interview today.
Hey Bambi, America doesn't vote out really good presidents when it has the chance. It votes out people like Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and Bush the Elder. Oh, and Herbert Hoover. You know, really bad presidents.
I can see the campaign posters for 2012 now: Vote for Barack Obama, the new millenium's Martin Van Buren.
Let me tell you, trying to write political satire really gets to be a bitch when reality hands you a line like that. And a president like him.
Bambi is drawing the old popular and crap/unpopular but brilliant distinction used by music critics.
Your two term presidents are like Britney Spears - loved by the masses but disliked by the cognoscenti. While Bambi is the Velvet Underground of politics. That might be why his healthplan is looking a bit like Sister Ray at the moment.

Probably, Obama is not just making Joe Biden's work more difficult but also everyone else's work. Just recently, he directed his anger towards the banking industry. Maybe, he believes that it would be as easy as that. He's just trying to prove that he could be one of the "bad presidents."

Or, in the case of Franklin Pierce, the Democrats toss out bad Presidents who are ALSO arrogant enough not to know it.
Contrafactual for you: 1980, and an alternate-universe Ted Kennedy without scandal. Does Carter make it?

While Bambi is the Velvet Underground of politics.
Close. Bambi is the Nico of politics.

Don't forget Buchanan, another one term President who was so good for the country.

Hmmmm. Maybe Hillary is the Nico.
Or is she actually Lou Reed to Obama's Nico?
And does that make Bill Clinton Andy Warhol? And is that his... er...banana on the cover?

Bush the Elder does not deserve to be lumped in with imbeciles like Ford and Carter. He wasn't Reagan, but he was smart and knew how to lead. The only reason he lost after one term is that Perot split the conservative vote, allowing Clinton to win with 46%.
Bush the Younger, on the other hand, was a complete moron and set the Republican cause back at least 20 years. He clearly disproves your theory that being too stupid to be President makes you lose after one term.
The left won this one because their far-left people and centrists were able to set aside their differences and unite behind one man. When the right develops that same ability again, they will start winning again.
