Great communicator? My ass.
Christ, what a shitty speech. If that steaming pile was supposed to energize the base, restore confidence and provide evidence of decisive leadership, I'd say Bambi went 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts.
He certainly did absolutely nothing to provide Congressional Democrats (especially in the Senate) the political cover they so desperately need in order to pass his beloved health care reform bill. Watch for a steady stream of Democratic Senators throwing cold water on Pelosi's attempts to get them to guarantee the House what they want via reconciliation. It has to now be painfully clear to all of them that Bambi isn't going to lift a finger to help them out.
Bambi was also 0 for 3 on fiscal matters, insisting on pursuing the bank tax, spending freeze and that daft deficit reduction commission. Given events of the last week (post-Scott Brown), this is nothing less than bizarre. None of those little projects has been met with much more than scant enthusiasm from Democrats, much less Republicans. More than one of them saw outright scorn. And the base? Oh, they loved the freeze idea. That should have progressives pounding the pavement for Obama come November.
Now, let's see Andrew Sullivan put lipstick on this pig...
I look forward to the Democratic Majority in Congress getting right on that jobs bill...

1. Regarding last paragraph: just wait.
2. He'll have lots of partisan company, too.
