You know things are off the rails when you have Congressional Democrats trying to save their worthless hides by running against a Democratic President's budget:
As Congress begins picking through President Obama's vast election-year budget, many Democratic incumbents and candidates seem to be finding something they love -- to campaign against.
.....
Obama's budget gives his fellow Democrats an unlikely campaign tool -- a catalog of ways to establish their distance from controversial aspects of his administration. The time-tested campaign tactic of politicians declaring their independence of their party leaders is particularly important for Democrats this year because being an insider is a political liability in an anti-incumbent year.
All that underscores a potential gap between Obama's governing agenda and congressional Democrats' political interests. Obama is asking them to look at the big picture on the budget, take on tough issues, and let the politics take care of themselves.
Anyone remember the Carter Years?
Contest Time! Guess on which day of February Barack Obama will announce he's going to "fight" for his budget. You know, the way he's "fighting" for health care reform, regulatory reform and bank taxes, deficit reduction and budgetary freezes. Remember, he has to use the word "fight" or a variation thereof. Use of the word (or variation thereof) by chinless wonder Robert Gibbs does not count. Nor does Rahm Emmanuel calling Democrats who oppose the budget "fucking retards" count. Leave your guess in the Comments Section.
Note: Given this, anyone betting on a health care reform bill passing soon?
Obama is, to my delight, even more inept and clueless than I hoped he'd be. Truly, to have squandered so much popularity and political capital so quickly with absolutely NOTHING to show for it? That redefines useless.

Valentine's Day, and it'll be a three-fer. O will ask The American People to eschew the usual chocolates, roses and candlelight dinner for a healthier, belt-tightening alternative, like a cup of low-fat yogurt by compact fluorescent bulb (from Costco.)
Fighting the cupidity.

Is this like Price is Right, where you have to pick the closest day without going over? If so, I pick Feb 15 just for wombat. :)

February 8th. It's a new week then and he needs a new crusade.

I don't think he'll 'fight' for anything. There's only so many people he can send SEIU 'spontaneous supporters' to beat up...

I think the 8th is the Boy Scouts Centennial celebration, when he's slated to condemn their Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.
For sure this Sunday he'll call the Colts "opportunists."

"Fight"? I suppose he's going to challenge Mitch McConnell to a duel; strident rhetoric at 30 paces. Although I suppose you're right - he will 'announce' he's going to 'fight', so, given President Pantywaist's tenuous grip on reality, I'll guess Feb. 31.

February eleventeenth!

I'll take the 22nd.
Oh, and isn't he going to "fight" for climate change legislation as well ?

Day he claims he's going to fight for his budget? Who the fuck cares? This terminal pussy (my apologies to any vaginas that have wandered by for the unfair comparison) can claim any damned thing he likes. It's not like a rational person will actually believe a word.

February 12th. Is a document dump day. Long weekend. No one gives a f*ck.

I think wombat nailed it, and for exactly the right reason.

Most likely it could be any day that ends in a "Y".
