Remember last week? Barack Obama doesn't. Last week was Jobs/Budget/Economy Week at the White House. This week? Not so much. Befitting a presidential attention span that is measured in minutes, now we're back on health care reform, although in fairness it should be noted that some of this has nothing to do with Obama's ADD:
Senate Democrats will miss their self-imposed deadline for bringing a jobs bill to the floor Monday, and they’re hoping that the weekend’s epic snowstorm will give them some cover.
Senate votes scheduled for Monday evening have been pushed back to Tuesday on account of the storm, but it seems unlikely that Democrats would have been ready to proceed Monday, anyway.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said last week that he believed “very emphatically” that the Senate would hold a vote on the first of a series of jobs bills Monday.
But there was no agreement on a bill late Sunday afternoon, and aides to senators involved in the discussions cautioned against expecting much progress by Monday.
Yep, you guessed it: Something's popped up in the jobs bill that would require a firm presidential hand to get resolved. Lord knows we can't have that. Same with the 2011 budget, the sort-of budget freeze and deficit reduction commission. No wonder we're back on health care reform.
You know, it isn't a matter of whether I'd go tiger shooting with the likes of Barack Obama. I wouldn't. It's that I wouldn't hunt for Jimmy Carter's swamp rabbit with Barack Obama. That's the real issue.
Next week? Obama unveils his energy program: Turn the thermostat down to 68 and start wearing sweaters around the house.
But I thought they needed to pass the jobs etc bills to cover for the fact that the healtchcare bill isn't going to be passed.
"Axelrod said the administration was “receptive” to one key piece of the bill, a payroll tax holiday for employers who hire unemployed workers. The plan, drafted by Hatch and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) , differs from a White House proposal to grant companies a tax credit after hiring new workers."
They still want to keep control over payroll tax. Typical politicians. Get rid of it.

Maybe they can get a couple of days of grace out of Murtha's demise.

Going nowhere, going nowhere

I would have rather seen Murtha live long enough to lose in November, but sometimes we just have to take what we can get.
Oh, and DC is supposed to get hammered again, weather-wise, late Tuesday/early Wednesday. That should cover them for another day or two.

Too late. They're already milking his death.
