I hate to be the one to break it to 'em, but if acting like morons was the key to building an overwhelming consensus for heath care reform, they'd have had it and cap-and-trade done by now:
In a reverse twist on the old protestors' tactic of getting arrested to make a point, union leaders and other backers of President Obama's healthcare plan issued "citizen's arrest" warrants for health insurance executives Tuesday – accusing them of exploiting consumers.
The "warrants," delivered to police during a demonstration outside an insurance industry meeting at a Washington hotel, were an attempt to dramatize protestors' call for insurance reform – and to build public support for the Democrats' healthcare legislation.
The demonstration, which drew several thousand protestors from as far away as Illinois and California, was organized by groups that for more than a year have pushed Congress to create a government-run insurance plan to compete with private insurers as part of national healthcare overhaul.
I wonder if there were any protesters there, you know, to add a bit of variety.
Irrespective of who was or wasn't there, it sounds like it was pretty lame. No mention of SEIU types punching out negroes, for instance, which is always a health care protest highlight for me. And points off if they didn't employ kettle drums, tin foil and giant paper-mache heads of George W. Bush when serving the warrants. Come to think of it...
They probably should have arrested noted Republican Dennis Kucinich while they were at it. No doubt he was sitting the the board room with the rest of the VRWC. If nothing else, it would have saved Markos Moulitsas the time and trouble of getting that primary challenger in place for... oh, never mind.
Oh, it could get much, much more stupid than that...

I shall sacrifice to Crom that he lets this happen...

Boy, that wouldn't draw any sort of negative reaction, now would it?

I have the impression that these people don't "act" stupid.

"Boy, that wouldn't draw any sort of negative reaction, now would it?"
No more than the blockading of Boston harbor and occupation of the city.
I know, I know - sounds stupid, over-ther-top, etc., etc. Could never happen again, right ?
A mere 18 months ago, I would laugh at anybody who suggested such a thing. I'm not laughing any more. These people could actually be so batshit crazy as to provoke such a thing. I hope they are not that stupid, but frankly, I can find no evidence to support my hopes.
But to be perfectly honest, I also hope they try. I've got a lawnchair, I'll lay in supplies of beer and popcorn, and wait for November. If November doesn't work, there's always the 2nd amendment and Jeffersonion philosophy of government...

Nobody ever went broke betting on the stupidity of Democrats.

"Mike, you can lay in beer and popcorn, I'm in Texas and here we are armed. "
Already got that part covered.
