If this news turns out to be true, it would be typical of both Kucinich and progressives in general:
Dennis Kucinich has called a press conference for tomorrow. Howard Fineman is reporting that Kucinich will vote “yes” on health care.
Kucinich told Obama that he wants a full ERISA waver and a public option in exchange for his vote. And if he actually gets an ERISA wa(i)ver (sic), it will be the biggest victory of the entire health care debate. As Jon Walker says, “ERISA is the 900 pound Gorilla that has fucked up America’s health care system something good.”
If on the other hand he settles for some worthless reassurances that “Obama will work toward it in the future” (which nobody but Lynn Woolsey is dumb enough to actually believe), or a meaningless symbolic vote that achieves little more than 15 minutes of futile grandstanding, good luck to him. A thousand people have donated over $16,000 to Dennis since yesterday to thank him for standing up for what he believes in. We’ll be asking him to return it.
Well, Jane, I hate to say it, but you're now learning what Cleveland learned about three decades ago:
You do not prosper by allowing Dennis Kucinich to handle matches.
And let's not kid ourselves here. There's absolutlely no way Barack Obama could deliver on a promise of an ERISA waiver at this point in what is laughingly known as "the process". Even if he was so inclined, and it has been clear for a while now that he is not, an ERISA waiver is something Obama cannot pull off.
If Dennis Kucinich ends up voting "yes", it will not be because Barack Obama promised an ERISA waiver. It will be - more that likely - because Barack Obama promised to take him seriously. Pathetic, but it rings true to those of us who've been forced to watch the man's "political career" over the past four decades.
And good luck getting that cash back.
So there you have it. For all their thunder and bullshit, when push came to shove, it turns out progressives were more than happy to peddle their asses to the highest bidder. Just like everyone else...
Congratulations. You're now in the same league as every on-the-make Country Club Republican you've ever sneered at.
Progressives and Democrats have long since become their parents. They really hate it when you point that out to them...

Maybe Obama promised to show him the secret Air Force files on UFOs.

Dear God. You don't suppose Obie offered Kookie Kucie the VP slot for his 2012 defense, do you?

I think they just shared a doobie together on Air Force One.
Obama does have blue suede shoes, doesn't he?
Thank you
