Further evidence of the essential rightness of Paul Krugman's thesis that Corporate America both fears and loathes Barack Obama:
In the days since President Obama announced a moratorium on permits for drilling new offshore oil wells and a halt to a controversial type of environmental waiver that was given to the Deepwater Horizon rig, at least seven new permits for various types of drilling and five environmental waivers have been granted, according to records.
The records also indicate that since the April 20 explosion on the rig, federal regulators have granted at least 19 environmental waivers for gulf drilling projects and at least 17 drilling permits, most of which were for types of work like that on the Deepwater Horizon shortly before it exploded, pouring a ceaseless current of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.
Not to worry, though:
“It seems as if permits were too often issued based on little more than assurances of safety from the oil companies,” Mr. Obama said. “That cannot and will not happen anymore.”
“We’re also closing the loophole that has allowed some oil companies to bypass some critical environmental reviews,” he added in reference to the environmental waivers.
Uh huh.
Please Dennis. No more political poetry!!! I'll quit voting Republican and start voting Libertarian. I'll throw away my Pink Floyd and start listening to brain dead Punk Rock and Johnny Winters. Hell I'll go to a oriental massage parlor and throw a temper-tantrum and get tossed in jail.
Anything to stop it....

I like the poetry . . . but that's me, and I like this site so there must be something wrong with me.
Re: Krugman, I'd like to see thing from his point of view, but there's only room for one head up that ass of his.
Finally, Dennis, isn't your "Pudgy D" status imperiled by the diet regimen? Is it going to be "Slimmer D" after you lose the weight? Or will you suffer for your art and keep the pounds on? These are the -- heh -- weighty questions of our time.

David. You like the poetry? That's sick.

David, Dennis's diet has been working so well he's down to 'Pudgy B'...

Given my starting point, I can continue to diet for a while without fear of having to change my moniker.

Just words?

How and when did Krugman sell out, or is he really a true believer?

He was promised a neck.

Christopher-
I don't think he did either. I think he's simply following his ego. He just wants to be the biggest bug in the manure pile. Remember, the only time he's ever been slammed by his followers is when he decided to back Hillary (i.e., tack right of the "progressive" mainstream"). Since then, he's made sure he's to the left on every issue of substance...

"“We’re also closing the loophole that has allowed some oil companies to bypass some critical environmental reviews,” he added in reference to the environmental waivers."
Translation: The check cleared, so fuck'em.

"Those people over there did bad things, but I'm here now and I'll watch them."
I expect a "mistakes were made" at any moment.
