So sayeth Valarie Jarrett:
This morning, White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett responded to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision to temporary [sic] a lower judge’s injunction of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, insisting that the administration had a duty to defend the policy. “Until Congress repeals it, the Justice Department is doing what it is required to do and that is, to defend the laws of the land,” Jarrett said. “But I want to be very clear that the president thinks it is time for the policy to end, and that’s what he intends to ask Congress to do”:
JARRETT: You know what, the Justice Department is required to defend the law of the land. Believe me, we wish there were another way because the President has been so clear. And I think there are many members of the gay community who actually understand this and who are working with us to try to put pressure on Congress to repeal it. It’s clear that the vast majority of American people think that it should not be the law. And we are determined to have Congress revoke it. But we have to go through that orderly process.
Uh-huh. Well, there you have it: It isn't that Barack Obama is a gutless wonder, it's that all you gay types just don't understand the process. (You know, the process where Obama stands around saying he'd love to end DADT while telling the Justice Department to do whatever it takes to keep DADT from ending.)
Probably because you're stupid.
Or scared.
Or bitter.
Or...
Question: If there are any gay type persons who visit DtP, could you tell me whether anyone other than Andrew Sullivan is buying this shit?
I notice you stopped your or...'s before you got around to what they might be clinging to. And yeah, if studio city/north hollywood are any indicator, plenty of gays still buy the bs. We hear it at our rally every week.

Obama's support for gay rights is there-- just latent, is all. The community understands.

If memory serves, DADT was passed by Congress & signed into law in Clinton's first term.
To these aged eyes, that makes it law, not policy. If law, BHO has to have either Congress change the law or have the courts invalidate it. If policy, BHO as CiC can change it on his own.
What I don't understand is why - when they can slip in a government takeover of the entire student loan apparatus (well, not counting that SD bank) & paperwork requirements designed to make small businesses as unprofitable as possible - BHO & Co didn't slip a repeal of DADT into the 'health' 'care' 'reform' bill.
